Job Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:
The Family Planning Senior Manager will be part of the Office of Women’s Health in the Division of Women, Children, and Nursing Services. This position will be responsible for providing ongoing leadership and management for the Family Planning Program provided in Public Health Districts and county health departments in Georgia. The Family Planning Senior Manager will ensure the standard of quality of care is maintained throughout the program to ensure goals are met and compliance with funding requirements is maintained. This position will be responsible for the successful expansion of the Program including increasing the family planning workforce, coordination, and implementation of training for public health nurses, and developing and implementing plans to increase the availability of long-term reversible contraceptives (LARCs) and other contraceptive methods. Such a scale-up will require representation and coordination with key stakeholders in both the public and private sectors. The Family Planning Senior Manager will be responsible for federal grant compliance, state funding requirements, and contract management.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (OVERALL TASKS AND EXPECTATIONS OF THE POSITION):

  • Serves in a lead role for the Family Planning Program provided in public health locations.
  • Provides expert advice, technical assistance, and training to staff, as needed.
  • Coordinates the successful implementation of expanded-role RN model for providing contraceptive implants.
  • Establishes standards and protocols for the Family Planning Program.
  • Provides coordination and implementation of training for public health nurses.
  • Provides technical assistance and advice to districts and community partners for program initiatives and goals.
  • Develops and maintains process for coordination and collaboration with the Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, STD Program, and the DPH Office of Pharmacy for comprehensive service provision and ongoing quality assurance.
  • Manages state and federal allocations, grants, and contracts.
  • Provides ongoing coordination and monitoring to assure program timelines, reports, contract requirements are completed as required.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to promote and expand women’s health programs.
  • Completes grant applications and needs assessments as needed.
  • Provides leadership and management of program staff.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field AND Five years experience managing professional level staff
OR
Nine years of experience AND Five years of management experience at the level equivalent to area of assignment
OR
Five years of experience at the lower level (GSM012).

Note: A combination of education and experience at agency discretion.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE POSITION):

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Master of Public Health (MPH)
