Postdoctoral Position in Soil Biogeochemistry of Atmospheric H2

Job Description

The High Meadows Environmental Institute at Princeton University has an opening for one postdoctoral or more senior researcher in the Zhang lab (zhang.princeton.edu) in the area of soil microbial hydrogen (H2) cycling, focusing on constraining the role of soil microbes in the global H2 budget using laboratory and field measurements. The researcher is expected to be highly collaborative, able to work efficiently across disciplines, including with microbial ecologists (L. Reji, Zhang lab), ecohydrologists (M. Bertagni, Porporato Lab), and Earth System modelers at NOAA-GFDL (F. Paulot) to improve knowledge of soil H2 removal, the largest sink of atmospheric H2, and assess its sensitivity to climate change and land-use change using experimental observations and modeling. A Ph.D. in Biogeochemistry, Environmental Microbiology, Geosciences, or a related field is required. Expertise in biogeochemistry of trace gases, microbial meta-omics, and/or stable isotope probing of natural microbial communities is preferred. The position is available for one year, with a possibility for renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding. Applicants should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae including a publication list, and contact information for three references by applying on the Princeton University Academic Hiring website at https://puwebp.princeton.edu/AcadHire/position/29426. This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
