Position Summary:

This position is for a bioinformatician II who will use complex computer tools, methods, mathematical models, and algorithms to undertake research and analysis of biological systems with a focus on understanding the underpinnings of human disease. In this position the employee will work to identify molecular variation in research participants, mine large complex biomedical data repositories, and integrate omic, phenotypic, and other associated and meta data to study genotype-phenotype associations.  

Overarching goals of the projects will be involved in are to provide better diagnoses and prognosis, support earlier detection of disease, identify candidate therapies, and increase generalized knowledge of disease processes and pathways. This position requires the employee to demonstrate expert knowledge of complex biological and computational concepts gained through PhD level education as well as experience gained from postdoctoral study. This position necessitates knowledge of, ability to integrate, refine, develop, and apply highly complex and specialized tools and methods.  

This position requires a high degree of demonstrated independence; particularly as to defining how research studies are designed, conducted, visualized, and communicated. In this position the employee will be responsible for independent work on the design, conduct, and reporting of research. They will be involved in project-based supervision of more junior team members and in the training of students wishing to acquire computational biology skillsets. This position will also be involved in monitoring, developing and implementing novel or modified visualizations as well as generating and providing reports or other consultation to the PI and other senior team members.

The employee will also be expected to contribute significantly to publications, presentations, and grant proposals including collating and presenting findings and insights at national or even international meetings.

Salary Range: $63,875 - $103,800

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Computer Science with interest in Biology/Genomics, or a related field required and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior computational analysis/ bio informatician work
