Director, Learning Systems and Online Student Success

Class Description

CCBC, a regional leader in online learning, is recruiting for leadership to oversee both the learning management system and online student success.  The Director Learning Systems and Student Success will assist the Dean of Online Learning with academic leadership to create learning environments for students, offering a rigorous learning program while maximizing student success and assisting with CCBC’s online learning (OL) coordination and growth efforts. This position will aid with the academic vision, leadership, and policy direction required to achieve the highest standards of excellence in instruction, with measurable outcomes. The  Director will assist in directing and coordinating Online Learning curriculum development, innovation and traditional schedule development, assessment, and student success activities. 

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field.  Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.  

Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree required. Degree in information technology, computer science, instructional technology, distance education, or higher education preferred. Five (5) years of experience in the instructional use of Learning Management System (LMS) required, administrative use of the LMS preferred. Five (5) years of supervisory experience, higher education preferred. Knowledge of principles of online pedagogy, curriculum development, assessment, and student success required. Experience in quality assurance in online learning required, Quality Matters preferred. Three (3) years of experience teaching online in higher education preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Provide leadership and supervision to the learning management system and student success staff.
  2. Hire, develop, evaluate, and supervise assigned staff.
  3. Develop and implement goals and objectives in coordination with senior leadership of the department.
  4. Evaluate the effectiveness of policies and procedures of quality assurance and the learning management system to ensure consistency.
  5. Remain current with trends and issues in online learning to evaluate and improve online learning processes.
  6. Represent the school and the College with students, parents, professional organizations, and other relevant constituencies.
  7. Supervise the creation of timely class schedules based on student needs and institutional resources.
  8. Provide high level of customer service to faculty, students, and staff.
