Job Description
Position Description:
Position Summary
Postdoctoral Fellow
Purpose
The position of a Postdoctoral Fellow is available immediately within the Pan laboratory in the Department of Anesthesiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Our NIH- and industry-funded laboratory focuses on understanding mechanisms of neuropathic pain, and cannabinoid signaling in pain-induced affective disorders. Multiple state-of-the-art techniques including advanced behavioral assays, electrophysiology, and genetic modification are used in the lab.
Work is performed in a team consisting of PIs, research scientists and graduate student. The Postdoctoral Fellow will learn and perform some aspects of the experiments in the lab including behavioral tests of pain, electrophysiological recordings, calcium imaging, adeno-associated virus vector design, western blot, immunohistochemistry, qRT-PCR. The Postdoctoral Fellow needs to use fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to perform complex scientific research, under minimal supervision. The PI (Bin Pan, MD, PhD) will assist the postdoctoral fellow in creating a mentoring team and individual development plan (IDP) to help guide the trainee’s career development.
Candidates with experience in any aspect mentioned above will be considered, while priority will be given to those candidates with some experience in molecular genetics (e.g., RNAseq, qRT-PCR) and/or viral targeting approaches (e.g., AAV). Please contact the PI (Dr. Pan at bpan@mcw.edu) if interested.
