Position Highlights We seek a postdoctoral researcher in computational seismology with a focus on geo-hazards applications. The postdoc will work on projects aimed at understanding fluid-driven processes and their relationship to seismic and aseismic deformation using dense seismic arrays installed in the US Gulf Coast region. Previous experience in any of the following areas is welcome: microearthquake analysis, seismic tomography, analysis of nodal seismic datasets, numerical simulations of the seismic wavefield, high-performance computing, and machine learning applications in observational seismology.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • (1) Creating ambient noise tomographic models across the major fault systems in the US Gulf Coast.
  • (2) Working independently and collaboratively on projects requiring initiative and supportively collaborating with students.
  • (3) Refining research methods and applications.
  • (4) Writing peer-reviewed articles and developing software.
  • (5) Participating in the research group’s education, training, and outreach activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have a doctorate degree completed in Geoscience upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in seismology and computational methods.
  • Experience in Earth model development.
