Classification Summary

This class is the first level in the Maintenance series. Incumbents are responsible for performing routine maintenance activities by providing general preventative maintenance and assisting higher level mechanics, plumbers, and electricians in performing general maintenance and repairs; performing snow removal duty; providing support to event setup at needed. May need to assist and mentor temporary and student workers.

Classification Duties
1. Perform semi-skilled interior building maintenance and repairs such as painting, floor covering, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and other unskilled and semi-skilled trades work. (B2)
2. Perform routine building cleaning work. (A1)
3. Maintains an inventory of supplies. (A1)
4. Provide support to higher level maintenance staff as needed. (A1)
5. Perform required inclement weather duties as directed during regular or unscheduled shift days/hours to assure safety of campus navigation for all pedestrians and motorists including but not limited to, plowing snow, sleet, ice and chemical application to parking lots and sidewalks, entrances, etc. (A1)
6. Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
Position Duties
1. Primary area of responsibility is performing maintenance tasks related to the Viking Woods Student housing apartments.
2. Perform interior building maintenance and repairs such as painting, floor covering, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, lighting, mechanical, and other unskilled and semi-skilled trades work.
3. Complete general exterior building maintenance and repairs such as painting, power washing, lighting, and other unskilled and semi-skilled trades work.
4. Monitor, respond and complete submitted work orders from students and staff.
5. Perform routine apartment and club house interior and exterior cleaning work.
6. Provide key and lock repair and assistance as needed.
7. Monitor trash situation of dumpsters and student apartments upon vacancy.
8. Assist students upon moving in and out of apartments when needed.
9. Maintain an inventory of supplies.
10. Maintain inventory of furniture and submit request to housing manager for replacement approval and purchase.
