The Kishwaukee College Foundation is a 501©3 non-profit organization. The Foundation strengthens the work of the College through fundraising, investment management, stewardship of funds, and advocacy. The Foundation helps Kishwaukee’s students access high-quality college education and provides financial assistance for academic programs and facility improvements.
 

Job Summary:
The Executive Director of the Kishwaukee College Foundation provides leadership in establishing and coordinating the activities of the Foundation under the direction of the Vice President of College Relations, in collaboration with College Leadership, and the Foundation Board.
The Executive Director provides senior leadership and management of all facets of the Foundation operations and its advancement programs. This position is responsible for the management of the non-profit organization, serves as a chief fundraiser for the College, and oversees multiple programs and opportunities to engage donors, alumni and the community. The Executive Director works collaboratively with both internal and external individuals and organizations and is expected to develop a comprehensive fundraising program that encompasses the College community.
The position oversees the funds for Foundation supported Kishwaukee College scholarships, annual and planned giving, major gifts, alumni support and expansion of endowed funds. The Executive Director will develop, build, and maintain relationships with the area, business & industry, alumni and other donors that support the goals of the College and Foundation Board.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
  • Advancement programs and activities employed in an institution of higher learning and community based non-profit organization.
  • Principles and methodology for accessing and assessing the community and its fundraising potential.
  • Procedures for planning, directing, and coordinating Foundation activities.
  • Principles of management, supervision, including budget development and administration procedures.
  • Principles and practices of higher education organization and structures.
  • Understanding of project management.
Skills:
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with community and prospective donors.
  • Self-initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Strong technology skills, including computer operations and office equipment.
  • Demonstrated previous experience with event coordination.
Ability to:
  • Understand, manage, and communicate financial information.
  • Effectively manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Motivate and lead a team to meet department and College goals.
  • Effectively present and promote the Foundation to the staff and public by establishing and maintaining positive relationships with the Kishwaukee College community.
  • Direct the development of a community college foundation and work with the College and the Foundation Board of Directors, committees, volunteers, and staff in establishing and implementing fundraising goals and plans.
  • Work within a diverse environment and promote equity and inclusion in the workplace and community.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including writing complex proposals and producing written marketed-oriented materials.

 

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • 5+ years of fundraising experience

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in related field
  • 5+ years of experience as an executive director or chief operating officer of a foundation or non-profit organization; preference given for experience with an institution of higher education
