Job Description
Tennessee State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) in the Department of Accounting beginning in either January or August 2023. The strongest candidates will have expertise in contemporary research practices and topics, demonstrated excellence in teaching accounting-related topics, possess practical business experience, and the potential to make significant internal service contributions. We welcome applications in all areas of accounting, teaching and research. Salary is AACSB competitive and commensurate with rank and experience.
TSU is designated as a State of Tennessee Land Grant Institution offering baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degree programs with an emphasis on high quality, innovative teaching, and faculty research supporting professional faculty development. The College of Business seeks to recruit, develop, and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool. The successful applicant will be a dedicated teacher, active scholar, and effective mentor for students with diverse backgrounds, preparation, and career goals.
Candidates must have expertise or evident potential in providing quality instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, conduct research resulting in high quality publications, fulfill service responsibilities, and discharge other duties normally associated with a university faculty appointment.
Experience in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening, and/or Saturday classes as needed.
Candidates must successfully publish in the College of Business preferred listings of refereed journals. Faculty will participate in professional organizations and engage in course, curriculum, and program development for both the College of Business as well as the Department of Accounting.
Tenure-track faculty members provide academic advising for students and assist in career guidance programing. All TSU faculty actively participate in college, university, and community service activities.
Expertise in contemporary research practices and topics, demonstrated excellence in teaching accounting-related topics, possess practical business experience, and the potential to make significant internal service contributions.

 

Minimum Qualifications
The College of Business at TSU is accredited by AACSB International and offers programs at the undergraduate and MBA levels with a total enrollment of more than 1000. A Ph.D. or DBA in accounting, preferably from an AACSB International accredited institution, is required. A CPA, CMA, CIA, and CGMA, or similar certifications with professional experience in the practice of accounting are strongly preferred.
