Job Description

This is a full-time, 175-day (10-month annual contract) tenure-track faculty position in the Life and Physical Sciences Department, with an emphasis in Agriculture. The faculty member will provide instruction 60% of load and coordinate 40% of load. The instructor will participate in program review and curriculum development; review and revise content of course(s) as necessary; maintain five (5) required office hours per week for student consultation; participate in department and college activities; maintain class and examination schedules as well as grade and attendance records according to college regulations; and perform related tasks as required. The assignment may include teaching in the evenings and on weekends at any college site.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and community college students and of staff and students with disabilities.
Demonstrated ability to:


  • develop and use course materials and incorporate current technology
  • use multimedia technology in classroom instruction
  • plan, organize, and present lecture and lesson materials and concepts
  • communicate effectively, both in oral and written communication
  • work with and assist students having a broad range of skills, motivation, and academic or vocational goals
  • establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
  • apply evaluation and assessment methods
  • identify and use learning outcomes and assessment that lead to course and program improvements
Knowledge of:
  • course design, evaluation, and assessment methods which enhance student learning
  • interrelationship of critical thinking, reading, and writing and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to instruction
  • demonstrated experience in teaching strategies that address the needs of students with a variety of learning styles

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Master's degree in agriculture, agriculture science, education with a specialization in agriculture or other agricultural area (including: agricultural business, agricultural engineering, agricultural mechanics, agronomy, animal science, enology, environmental (ornamental) horticulture, equine science, forestry, natural resources, plant science, pomology, soil science, viticulture, or other agriculture science)

Additional Information

 

Hiring salary range is $57,858 to $82,391 dependent upon education and experience.
