Job Description

The Department of Mathematics at Louisiana State University is seeking applications to fill one or more non-tenure-track postdoctoral researcher positions. The position(s) will begin at the earliest date of May 22, 2023 but may begin at a later date as agreed.

Research in mathematics of a nature and quality leading eventually to publication of papers in research journals and/or advanced level books; maintenance of expertise. Successful candidate would be part of MURI sponsored research on granular flows working in Robert Lipton's group.

Teaching of Mathematics at all University levels in a manner that is in keeping with Departmental policy; participation in other educational and professional tasks of the Department and University.

Duties Include: Performs research in any area of Mathematics of interest to the departmental faculty of a nature and quality leading eventually to publication in research journals, and/or advanced level books will be performed in year 1 at 100% effort, year 2 at 75% to 100% effort and year 3 at 75% effort, upon successful annual evaluation. Successful candidate would be part of MURI sponsored research on granular flows working in Robert Lipton's group.

Teaching of Mathematics at all University levels in a manner that is in keeping with Departmental policy; participation in other educational and professional tasks of the Department and University will be performed in year 2 at 25% effort and year 3 at 25% effort, upon successful annual evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD or equivalent degree in the mathematical sciences or a closely related field. A.B.D. candidates will be considered, but must have PhD by first day of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Research excellence as well as commitment to graduate and undergraduate education; outstanding candidates in all fields of mathematics will be considered. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. An offer of employment is contingent upon a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
