Position Qualification

Position Summary
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work in the research group at the College of Public Health, University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), and work with collaborators at the College of Medicine. This role will contribute to a privately funded, rural whole-of-community project to improve diabetes care, education, and prevention over the next two years. The project is focused on building the capacity of two rural community systems in Nebraska to integrate clinic-to-community evidence-based diabetes services, education and community-engaged physical activity, nutrition, and obesity prevention efforts. A multidisciplinary team is working in collaboration with rural healthcare systems, public health departments and other community-based organizations. This position will report to Dr. David Dzewaltowski, Professor, Community Chair for Activity, Nutrition, Obesity Prevention at UNMC/College of Public Health. This is a full-time position with possibility for remote work.
The Dzewaltowski lab takes a team science approach to the work conducted. Duties of this position include preparation of scholarly products, including peer-reviewed publications, conference abstracts, and grant applications. Additional opportunities to contribute to creation and implementation of research study design, evaluation and data analyses. The postdoctoral research associate is expected to have strong scientific writing skills, data analysis skills, and a good early track record of submitted or published peer-reviewed articles. Preference will be given to individuals pursuing a scientific career who have a strong desire to lead independent projects and publish.
This position allows for opportunities to develop and hone skills around community and health systems integration, and may include helping to facilitate community coalition work, data collection and analysis, data visualization, and report writing.
