Position Qualification
Position Summary | One postdoctoral research associate position is available at the University of Nebraska Medical Center within the Department of Surgery. Studies in the laboratory are focused on the molecular and cellular intercommunication between coagulation, fibrinolysis, and inflammation (particularly the complement system) in traumatically injured and critically ill patients. Our group synergizes the expertise of clinicians, physiologists, bioengineers, and molecular biologists in a dynamic research environment, including collaborating with other groups within the institution and at other academic facilities. Experience with basic molecular and cellular biology (protein gel electrophoresis and western blotting, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, mammalian cell culture), and fundamental lab skills (stoichiometry/basic solutions preparation for biologic experiments, pipetting, use of centrifuges) is required. Strong history of publications in the areas related to coagulation, fibrinolysis, and/or acute inflammatory responses are required. Pathology and/or immunological expertise is a plus. The candidate should be able to work independently as well as with a team of investigators. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential and an established publication record in the fields outlined above is desired, as conference travel and presentation at meetings will be expected. This is an outstanding opportunity for persons interested in ultimately pursuing a medical and/or bioengineering career path. Applicants must have a PhD, and/or MD/DO. Applications are being accepted online at http://unmc.peopleadmin.com/postings/77775. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. |
