Summary of Position

This position will provide overall direction, management, and coordination for the four-year grant-funded Manchester CREATES the Future project, the Manchester Collaborative for Regenerative Medicine Education and Training for Engineers and Scientists of the Future (Manchester CREATES). The Project Director is responsible for coordinating day-to-day administrative, fiscal, and operational activities of special programs, projects, and events; provide professional administrative support independently, in accordance with priorities, time and funding limitations, or other specifications; and serve as main contact and resource person in support of the program. Working collaboratively with the project’s Faculty Principal Investigator, the Manchester School District, the University of New Hampshire faculty, staff, as well as the biofabrication industry in Manchester, the Project Director will facilitate the planning and implementation of all grant-supported activities, including teacher professional development, and summer and after-school STEM programs at Manchester School District area schools. The Project Director reports directly to the Principal Investigator with the overall goal to establish a robust pipeline from middle school to high school and beyond for the regenerative medicine and biofabrication (RM&B) industry in New Hampshire.

  • Bachelor’s in Education or a STEM related field (biology, chemistry, bioengineering is a plus)
  • 3-5 years experience working in middle or high school setting as a teacher, administrator, or counselor OR in a similar education workforce development role
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively and resourcefully
  • Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and complex priorities
  • The ability to use tact and diplomacy in interactions with all relevant parties
  • A strong ethical code
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and be open to feedback
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Duty/Responsibility

Coordinate program operations across stakeholders
  • Provide overall project leadership and supervision; ensure accomplishment of grant objectives; understand project scope
  • Build relationships and effective communication across all project stakeholders
  • Meet regularly with PI and Assistant Tech Camp Director for the purpose of program development, ongoing assessment, collaborative problem solving and communication
  • Meet regularly with evaluation and communication teams
  • Collaborate with project team, community partners, and other parties to ensure the learning and growth of teachers and students
  • Travel to partner schools as needed
  • Maintain high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Measure project performance and progress to identify areas for improvement and adjustment as needed
  • Specific duties as related to grant objectives include:
  • Coordinating and delivering teacher professional development related to project-based learning, biofabrication and regenerative medicine for Manchester School District middle and high school teachers, in coordination with the Principal Investigator
  • Guiding and assisting teachers as they implement project-based, regenerative medicine focused projects in their classrooms during the school year
  • Fostering a professional learning community that meets on a regular basis during the school year
  • Establishing a summer youth program at the University of New Hampshire, Manchester for 20-40 middle and high school students
  • Recruiting and assisting teachers in implementing STEM clubs at their schools
  • Fostering relationships among members of the Manchester School District, University of New Hampshire, Manchester and local RM&B industry

  • Prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements; track project costs in order to meet budget; ensure appropriate use of federal funds
  • Oversee preparation of project fiscal and technical reports
