This individual oversees and supervises the Business and Economic Development Center (BEDC), the Cogdell Learning Center (CLC), and Continuing Education Community Programs. The Cogdell Learning Center and its programming should be used to serve the needs of the neighborhoods surrounding the CLC. The CLC is located in the lowest income census tract in Midland.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Experience administering minority outreach programs
Experience serving the needs of first generation college students
Three years of supervisory experience
Computer and software skills
Communications and public relation skills
Reliable transportation to conduct travel between Midland College sites and different community locations
Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

Essential Functions
Facilitate the Cogdell Learning Center being a vibrant part of the community it serves
Supervise the BEDC, CLC, and Continuing Education Community Programs staff
Oversee the CLC’s Apply Texas and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) services
Oversee the BEDC’s individualized business, credit, and home ownership counseling
Administer the BEDC, CLC and Continuing Education Community Programs departmental budgets
Coordinate community outreach efforts
Ensure client and student records are maintained in a confidential manner
Collaborate with entities and individuals interested in the economic development of the neighborhoods surrounding the CLC
Perform strategic planning for the BEDC, CLC, and Continuing Education Community Programs
Develop and submit the BEDC’s annual grant applications and reports to City of Midland
Administer the Bill Pace Cogdell Scholarship (BPCS)
Search for other funding sources for the BEDC, CLC, and Continuing Education Community Programs to include writing of grant proposals
Maintain a productive relationship with the BPCS Trustees
Conduct presentations on and off campus
Serve on committees and/or boards in the community
Oversee the CLC buildings, parking lots, and landscape
Lead the development and growth of Continuing Education Community Programs offered by Midland College
Support the Associate Director of Community Programs in delivering personal enrichment courses to serve the Midland College service area
Other duties as assigned
