ABILITIES FIRST is a non-profit in Middletown, OH empowering children and families living with differing abilities to discover and fulfill their unique potentialserving for over 65 years.

Our three key service areas include:

  • The Autism Learning Center
  • The Early Childhood Learning Center
  • The Pediatric Therapies Department

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides leadership, direction and oversite for all Human Resources functions in support of the mission and vision of Abilities First. Responsible for all aspects of the generalist area of Human Resources including but not limited to recruiting, training, benefits administration, accountability, personnel file management and compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Actively promotes and leads Human Resources in continuous improvement initiatives including problem solving and the development, documentation, measurement, tracking and revision of work processes.

2. Works as a member of the Leadership Teams to ensure all agency programs and service performances are in line with the key organizational needs and strategic initiatives identified in the strategic plan, and timely decisions and actions are taken to ensure achievement of agency goals.

3. Assists departments with the recruiting, hiring and onboarding of excellent and talented new staff as well as providing support for the retention of current staff.

4. Assists departments with the assessment of training needs and ensures the development and delivery of training related to the key organizational needs and orientation programs and the evaluation of their effectiveness.

5. Facilitates policy development and revision in support of Abilities First philosophy within legal requirements including the employee manual. Provides clarification of policies as needed.

6. Develops and coordinates compensation and benefits including all aspects of the wage and salary program, payroll and all benefit plans provided for employees or required by law.

7. Enhances employee relations through development and support of employee recognition and reward, agency activities, celebration of milestones, conflict resolution and open communication.

8. Provides assistance and counseling to staff and support to Directors regarding Human Resources functions (hiring, discipline, appraisals, etc.) and ensures completion and filing of paperwork for completion of personnel files.

9. Ensures safety standards are met and handles worker’s compensation claims.

10. Develops the HR budget in support of Abilities First strategic plan and ensures the successful development of the agency budget.

11. Serves as HIPAA Privacy Officer. Monitors HIPAA regulations and advises Leadership regarding changes and issues. Audits HIPAA compliance and prepares reports as needed.

12. Models the organizational values of customer focus, effective communication, integrity, and organization learning.

13. Develops and maintains effective relationships with all stakeholders, focusing on exceeding customer expectations of the services provided.

14. Leads and/or participates in meetings, committees and agency events to promote continuous improvement and Abilities First community image.

15. Ensures ongoing staff development through education, experience and training. Attends seminars and conferences for professional growth and presents this information when appropriate.

16. Performs other duties as deemed necessary by the Executive Director.

FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING

A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources management or commensurate experience in a field related to the services Abilities First provides required.

CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION AND/OR LICENSURE

Professional in Human Resources Certification preferred.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Three years experience in the Human Resources and Service related fields. Experience in facilitating group processes. Management/leadership experience required. Committed to the concepts of continuous improvement.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
