Summary of Job Duties:

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position in Cellular Metabolism at the Assistant Professor level to start in August 2023.
We seek candidates with a research focus on cellular metabolism that will complement the activities of the Arkansas Integrative Metabolic Research Center at the University of Arkansas. This includes, but is not limited to, research in obesity, diabetes, cancer, development, aging, immunology, repair and regeneration, or any other biological processes related to metabolism. Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience in cell and molecular biology or related fields and demonstrated research accomplishments are required. Successful candidates are expected to establish an extramurally funded research program and contribute to the teaching mission of the university.
The Department: The Department of Biological Sciences is committed to exceptional scholarship and education in the areas of cell biology, genetics, genomics, microbiology, ecology, and evolutionary biology. The faculty have access to shared equipment in microscopy, flow cytometry, and mass spectrometry facilities, and the Arkansas High Performance Computing Center (AHPCC). Arkansas Integrative Metabolic Research Center (AIMRC): The AIMRC was established as an NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in 2021. The AIMRC is focused on understanding the role of cell and tissue metabolism in disease and health through research involving advanced imaging, bioenergetics, and data science. The mission of the AIMRC is to promote and expand cross-disciplinary biomedical research in metabolism through funding opportunities, faculty mentorship, grant writing support, and access to state-of-the-art research facilities. It brings together over 20 faculty studying a range of biomedical applications from the College of Engineering, Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education and Health Professions, and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Duties will include:
