Summary of Position

Under general supervision of designated supervisor, to perform work requiring skill in the trade of Electrician for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, fixtures and wiring.

Other minimum qualifications

* Technical/vocational school graduation or equivalent apprenticeship. 
* Journeyman’s Electrician License or higher. 
* Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, methods, tools and hazards of the trade. 
* Ability to read and understand blue prints, electrical schematic diagrams and wire circuit drawings. 
* Ability to compute voltage amperage and resistance factors using simple algebraic formulas. 
* Ability to inspect equipment, determine malfunction and make necessary repairs. 
* Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy, work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time. 
* Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary. 
* Valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

* Must be able to respond to after hours emergency calls. 
* Ability to work with heights as well as a bucket truck. 
* Commercial install, update and repair experience. 
* Three years experience at the journey level, Master Electrician license preferred 
* Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituents. 
* Technology skills including MS Office, Internet, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and Building Automation Systems (BAS). 
* Strong oral communication skills. 
* Experience with recordkeeping.

Duty/Responsibility

A. Working independently, repairs, maintains, installs, inspects, and performance testing of campus electrical systems.

B. Repair, install and replace electrical components such as light fixtures, lighting components, electrical distribution panels, wiring, electronic components and other related electrical components.

C. May perform terminations, pulling wire, cutting, bending conduit and other normal electrical techniques, using appropriate tools and methods.

D. Install, update and repair electrical distribution systems as needed during Campus projects. Assemble and install electrical distribution systems.

E. Troubleshooting and repairs of fire alarm systems and security systems.

F. Verify that campus electrical systems comply with local, state and federal code requirements. 
Determine appropriate sizes, locations, tools and methods of solving electrical problems. 
Troubleshooting and maintaining industrial controls such as, but not limited to, variable speed drives, etc. 
Correct openings in walls, floors and ceilings in order to accommodate wiring and electrical components.
