General Description of Position
Under the general supervision and direction of the Milford Campus Admission Technician, the Administrative Assistant I – Admissions provides support for the Admissions Office. This position involves significant contact with current and prospective students, SCC students, staff, faculty, and the general public. Responsibilities include data entry, creating correspondence, responding to inquiries about the College, giving tours, and assisting with events. The Administrative Assistant I – Admissions provides support for the Admissions Office in a fast-paced environment requiring multi-tasking with numerous interruptions. Other duties include imaging and assisting with administrative and clerical support for the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Divisions. This is a full-time position. The usual work hours for this position are generally scheduled between 8:00 am and 5:00pm Monday thru Friday. Special projects and assignments and periodic increases in workload may require evening and weekend work on an infrequent basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides Customer Service
Delivers positive, welcoming assistance to prospective and current students and guests. Responds to inquiries in-person, by phone, email, and/or mail. Schedules campus visits and activities held at Milford Campus; schedules advising appointments.

Participates in Campus Visits and Recruiting Events
Leads campus tours for prospective students and families, special guests, and SCC students, staff, and faculty as requested. Conducts individual meetings with prospective students and families during campus visits and recruiting events. Assists with administrative tasks for recruiting events and tours.

Prepares Correspondence
Utilizes the College’s student information system to create correspondence informing applicants of required admission materials, incomplete files, and notice of acceptance. Maintains files and collates required documentation and creates labels.

Processes Department Mail
Opens and processes incoming mail. Prepares outgoing mail for Admissions Office.

Processes Information
Enters prospective student data into the Student Information System. Prepares and mails material to students. Enters appointment notes into database.

Prepares Reports
Produces reports to summarize Admissions Office activities.

Assists with Applications
Assists with processing admissions applications by inputting data, including the review and updating of student mailing addresses and verifying accuracy of the data.

Receives Incoming Transcripts
Records the receipt of incoming high school and college transcripts to the student’s file, noting such things as dates of attendance, graduation date, class rank, GPA, etc. and forward transcripts to other offices as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. High School graduate or GED.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years of administrative assistant experience or one (1) year of office experience plus one (1) year of related training.
Desired Qualifications
  1. Associate’s degree in Office Technology, Business Administration, Computer Information Technology or another related field with four (4) years of related work experience or a combination of completed education and/or related work experience equal to six (6) years.
Salary
$15.72/hr
