Summary of Position
Reporting to the Office of University Communications in partnership with the Office of Graduate Admissions, the Assistant Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategic marketing and communication plans to achieve Elon’s graduate enrollment and communications goals. The Assistant Director acts as a liaison between Graduate Admissions and University Communications, ensuring a collaborative approach to communicating and delivering a cohesive message and brand in all marketing and communications for graduate programs, including digital, print, web, email, social media, and video platforms.

This position works with the Graduate Admissions team, academic programs, and University Communications teams to strategize, write, and edit print, electronic, web content, social media, and advertising content to inform and engage prospective graduate applicants as well as admitted and deposited students. Anticipates needs of prospective students and build communications strategies and content to address these and optimize website content strategy for search. Develops and implements new communication streams for all relevant audiences.

Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office package, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint software. Knowledge of and experience using Adobe Photoshop, InCopy and InDesign is preferred.

General Purpose of Position

The Assistant Director acts as a liaison between Graduate Admissions and University Communications, ensuring a collaborative approach to communicating and delivering a cohesive message and brand in all marketing and communications for graduate programs, including digital, print, web, email, and video platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the Graduate Admissions team, academic programs, and University Communications teams to strategize, write, and edit print, electronic, web content, social media, and advertising content to inform and engage prospective graduate applicants, and admitted and deposited students. Anticipate needs of prospective students and build communications strategies and content to address these and optimize website content strategy for search. Develop and implement new communication streams for all relevant audiences.

Act as the liaison between the Graduate Admissions team and University Communications. Maintain constant communication between the two offices to promote maximum effectiveness of communications and marketing for graduate programs and ensure the Elon brand is consistent across all marketing and communication platforms.

Strategize, write, design and format marketing assets for applicant portals, social media platforms, and email communications, with a particular emphasis on improving, updating, and optimizing content strategy on graduate program websites for SEO performance. Review program and admissions websites and pages to ensure accurate, timely content and make edits while adhering to institutional branding guidelines. Optimize all graduate program websites for organic search; recommend and implement changes to websites as appropriate.

Develop and implement methods to analyze the success of all communication, marketing, and advertising campaigns to determine effectiveness, identify weaknesses/areas where improvement is needed, and potential opportunity for future efforts. Make recommendations for future improvements, partnerships, campaigns, based on analysis and research of newly emerging technologies.

Provide marketing and advertising support for continuing education programs.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related discipline, and at least 3 years of related experience. Excellent writing and editing skills. Experience in WordPress preferred but not required. Experience with Macintosh operating systems. Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office package, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint software.
