Job Description

Summary:
Under general supervision of department chair, an Accounting instructor is responsible for teaching undergraduate Accounting courses. In addition to preparing for and holding classes [face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online], teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students' work, assessing student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. In addition, workload may involve advising students and/or providing other service to the department. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches undergraduate Accounting courses in different modalities.
  • Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught.
  • Maintains proper status consistent with institutional AACSB requirements.
  • Prepares instructional materials (i.e.: exams, visual aids, course outlines, syllabi, and instruction sheets) as necessary.
  • Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms through demonstrations, discussions, visual aids, lectures, field trips, individualized instruction, on-line instruction, and other appropriate instructional methods.
  • Evaluates instruction and learning by means of written, verbal, practical, and performance tests.
  • Maintains a student-oriented approach to education. Recommends students for advancement and graduation. Advise and mentor students.
  • Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability and performance. Supervises extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Assists department chair, faculty, department staff, and advisers in building and maintaining an effective program.
  • Serves on committees and attends faculty and other meetings as assigned.


Job Requirements:


Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):

  • Master's level in Business related discipline with 18 credit hours of Accounting course work.
  • At least five (5) years working experiences with higher education and five (5) years of working experiences in Financial Service industry/Accounting Profession

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates should have relevant professional experience in financial services industry/Accounting Profession. Preferences will be given to those candidates with professional licenses in Accounting area. Current degree candidates will be considered; however, their degrees should be conferred prior to the first day of classes of Fall 2023.

The salary for each position is based on the grade/tier in which the position is placed, and the salary within the grade/tier is based on the number of years of related experience or number of years in the hiring rank.
