Position Summary

The Salvation Army Northern Division is hiring an Assistant Divisional Finance Director. The Assistant Divisional Finance Director supervises finance department personnel, ensures financial statements and reports are timely and accurate, and maintains internal controls. Expected salary for this position is from $90,000.00 to $95,000.00 DOQ.

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)

  • Oversee and assist with the preparation of budgets, financial reports, and other reporting; ensure GAAP compliance (45%).
  • Ensure financial compliance of grants and contracts (25%).
  • Counsel departments/locations and staff with respect to financial and compliance matters (20%).
  • Ensure internal controls and guidelines are effective and functioning (5%).
  • Review and verify the accuracy and timeliness of tax and other filings (5%).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Five years of accounting experience in non-profit accounting required.
  • CPA/CMA preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, meet MVR driver’s qualifications, and pass background checks.

  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

  • High level of honor in dealing with confidential information.

Working Conditions

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 30 pounds at a time.
  • Competency with PC, Microsoft Office, Adobe, General Ledgers, and standard office equipment required.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English, and work in person or on the phone for reasonable periods.
  • Professional environment; eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provide supervision, mentorship, and training to assigned finance department personnel.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel by agency or personal vehicle may be necessary.
