Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for teaching adult education classes using instructional methods geared towards the adult learner in a classroom setting.
  • Plan lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students which prepare students to pass the high school equivalency tests and/or enhance basic education skills.
  • Delivers whole group, small group, and individualized instruction to students, using a variety of instructional methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students
  • Assure that students who qualify are pre- and post-tested as needed. Assess program students using the TABE test as dictated by Adult Education Program policy
  • Keep daily attendance records and progress reports. Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records
  • Conduct preliminary interviews to determine a student’s eligibility for the High School Equivalency Program (HEP) grant & refer to the HEP Program Lead student is eligible to be certified
  • Participate and manage registration, testing, and scheduling events
  • Establish a positive and trusting relationship with students
  • Foster student accountability, self-advocacy, self-awareness, and critical thinking skills
  • Adhere to regulations set forth regarding confidentiality of student records
  • Promote participation of students in all aspects of Adult Education programming
  • Maintain clean and professional classroom environment.
Required Education : • An Associate degree or higher
  • Strong communication skills, including both written and oral, with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of personalities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • Three (3) years teaching experience

Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.
