Summary

The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts and the Department of Mathematics at the University of Michigan invite applications for a Lecturer I position to begin in the Fall 2023 term. The normal teaching responsibility for a Lecturer I position is three courses per term. The initial contract is for one term. Criteria for selection and for renewal are excellence in teaching in active learning classroom environments, and the ability to work productively within the existing course structure and with faculty and staff administering the course.   Interest and activity in pedagogical research is encouraged but not essential for reappointment.

Required Qualifications*

The successful candidate is likely to have either a doctorate or equivalent credentials in Mathematics, and experience in teaching mathematics at the collegiate level.

Desired Qualifications*

Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences, and extensive experience teaching at the university level.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
