Summary

We are looking for a personable, empathetic, self-motivated and organized Research Assistant to help create and test surveys, assist with administrative tasks, engage, recruit and followup participants for a large Federally-funded longitudinal study of people who use opioids and other substances.

Responsibilities*

- Create and test Qualtrics surveys, including behavioral economic measures with complex branching logic
- Perform literature searches to inform survey and other measure selection
- Assist the study coordinator in preparing regulatory documents
- Assist in the preparation of posters, manuscripts, and other forms of research results dissemination
- Assist the study coordinator with other study start-up tasks as needed
- Contact, consent, and conduct surveys and assessments with participants. Maintain contact and engagement with participants throughout a longitudinal study.
- Assist the study coordinator with administrative tasks, such as hiring and paying participants
- Additional responsibilities may include qualitative interviews, data entry, maintaining project records, attending team meetings and trainings, and risk assessments as needed.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, public health, or a related field.
  • Past employment or work experience of no less than 2 years in psychological research.
  • Excellent organizational skills, professionalism, attention to detail, ability to work independently but also within a team,
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines are all a must.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Previous experience working with people who use substances is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the research process, experience in a large complex health care setting,
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels,
  • Experience with longitudinal research methods and study start-up
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures i
  • Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team and using Qualtrics 

Work Schedule

This position is a full time 40 hour per week position with regular hours as discussed with manager, but requires some flexibility and availability to work a varying schedule with some evening and weekend shifts as needed to meet the needs of the patient population.

Work Locations

Due to the COVID-19 climate, we are currently working in a hybrid environment, at times requiring in-person days at the office located in Ann Arbor. The RA will need to be able to function and engage in professional working environment capable of meeting Michigan Medicines work from home policies.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
