Job Description |
The person in this position works closely with and at the direction of the Director Facilities to ensure consistent physical plant operations. This position will be a working position with a primary craft (plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, electrical) and will be responsible for the direction and planning of the maintenance staff. This position will also handle the procurement of maintenance parts and supplies for daily tasks. The Maintenance Supervisor will also work closely with other college staff to support various college sponsored events. Maintaining the college’s vehicle fleet including support vehicles for maintenance and security fall under the responsibility of this person.
This position is subject to the college’s random drug testing policy and background checks.

Required Qualifications |
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Associate’s Degree with five years mechanical, electrical, structural or engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education including but not limited to: related military training, engineering training, 5 years or more of facilities management, 5 years of construction/skilled labor lead. Must be available to be “on call” as required by the Director of Facilities.
Current and valid driver’s license. CDL Class B is preferred. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES General knowledge of electronic controls for building systems; information and control technology skills such as building systems operations, word processing, and spreadsheets. Ability to plan and direct maintenance & grounds personnel. Knowledge of building construction, building systems, and materials and methods used in institutional type buildings.
Knowledge of proper grounds maintenance methods and procedures; of applicable health and safety laws and training requirements pertaining to the college’s physical plant; and a current and working knowledge of basic electricity, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

Preferred Qualifications |
Supervise, schedule, and evaluate the work for all maintenance and grounds personnel.
Responsible for the day-to-day scheduling and coordination of maintenance and grounds personnel as well as support for college sponsored events and activities on campus and in Progress City.
Work closely with other facilities team members to evaluate, resolve, and remediate complex electronic equipment and maintenance of building systems.
Responsible to work closely with the Director of Facilities for the operational and maintenance of the heating and cooling system
Assist with the development and monitoring of the budget for physical plant operations.
Assist with procurement of contract maintenance and materials and supplies required for physical plant operations.
Assess building condition, weather, emergencies, and plan, as appropriate, to maintain operation and a safe environment and notify the responsible administrator as needed.
Inspect, plan, and implement fleet vehicle maintenance process to ensure safe and reliable college vehicles and equipment.
Responsible for the proper and safe procurement, storage, disposal, and application of various grounds chemicals.

Physical Demands |
Able to lift and carry heavy objects over 50 pounds.
Able to climb ladders and access mechanical rooms, electrical closets, roofs, where building system components are located.
To work outdoors and be able to be in contact with plant material, grass, etc.,
Must be able to receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information.
Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations.
Provide timely response to externally/internally imposed conditions and deadlines.
Respond to concurrent, multiple, non-related issues.
Occasional irregular hours and travel.
