Position Summary

The Associate Director will report to the Executive Director of Gift Planning. S/he will partner with major gifts officers, Stewardship and Donor Relations, Advancement Services, and outside brokers and vendors on a regular basis to receive the full value of planned gifts in a timely and efficient manner.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the Executive Director of Gift Planning, Director of Gift Planning, the Fordham Fund, Alumni Relations, and Communications to develop and implement DAUR’s planned giving communications plan and calendar. S/he will partner with vendors and DAUR colleagues in marketing and communications to ensure that direct mail and electronic communications are sent on time and in alignment with University guidelines.

Essential Functions

The Associate Director will have the capacity and demonstrated track record to help administer Fordham’s planned giving program. S/he will be responsible for the following key opportunities:

  • Advances and supports the University’s Jesuit mission and identity.
  • Leads the administration and allocation of realized testamentary gifts to the University.
  • Follow-ups with donors who request planned giving information through planned giving appeals.
  • Utilizing DAUR reporting tools, generates all direct mail and email recipient lists.
  • Continuously considers additional Planned Giving communications by partnering with the Fordham Fund, Alumni Relations, and Communications so that planned giving is included in all appropriate messaging, including reunion appeals, Fordham Magazine, and alumni e-newsletters.
  • Partners with the Fordham Fund and Alumni Relations on Reunion Giving appeals so that Planned Giving options are included.
  • Stewards and cultivates existing 1841 Society members and, when appropriate, secures consistent, annual outright gifts and planned gifts from existing 1841 Society members and other assigned prospects.
  • Provides regular planned giving metrics via reporting tools to DAUR leadership.
  • Assists with the planning and execution of 1841 Society and Doty Society (Planned Giving and Loyal Donor) events.
  • Exemplifies and uphold DAUR’s core values.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, business or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in development and/or planned giving fundraising.
  • Demonstrated ability to create mailing lists, partner with outside vendors, and provide excellent customer service in a professional setting.
  • Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills, high attention to detail and follow-up, and excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact.
  • Demonstrated track record of exceptional work and a high level of personal initiative.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to new programs in an emerging and changing environment.
  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn the University’s internal processes and technological tools, including Ellucian CRM Advance, PG Calc, MS Office Applications, and reporting tools such as PowerBI and Webfocus.
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

Minimum Starting Salary: $77,500

Maximum Starting Salary: $86,000

Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
