Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | The Postdoctoral Scholar (B2F) has four major duties. The first duty is to conduct literature searches, engage in scholarly activities, meet regularly with faculty mentors, and participate in Sociolinguistic/Linguistic Anthropology Lab meetings with faculty and graduate students to develop a robust and innovative program of research and submit applications to secure research funding. The second duty is to conduct fieldwork, analyze and summarize data, prepare and submit manuscripts, prepare presentations, and communicate effectively in local, national, or international venues with limited supervision from mentors. The third duty is to participate in Bridge to Faculty and other professional development activities and outreach. The fourth duty is to develop, design, and initiate a research program focusing primarily on the interdisciplinary subfield of linguistic anthropology. The scholar will review the progress of the program over the span of the training period, adjusting program as necessary. These duties relate to the scholar’s primary goal of becoming competitive in academia so that the scholar is in good standing for a tenure-track position due to improved research publication and teaching-related skills as well as the scholar’s secondary goal of learning about faculty involvement in multiple internal departmental initiatives. |

Minimum Qualifications | Terminal degree in preferred or related field prior to start. |
Preferred Qualifications | This position requires a completion of a PhD in Anthropology, Linguistics or a closely related field. |
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | This position requires knowledge of linguistic anthropology as well as the ability to conduct literature searches, fieldwork and data analysis, prepare manuscripts and presentations, and develop a research program. |
