Under the direction of the Chief People Officer in the LSA Dean's Office, you will report to the Senior Navigator.  You will bring your expertise as it relates to disabilities which may include employment, academia, public access, new technologies, and facilities. You will be an internal consultant to our 75+ academic departments and programs with LSA regarding access and accommodation for programmatic access under the ADA in the compliance areas. You will be the go-to resource for individuals in supporting their specific needs in a compassionate and confidential manner.  You will work closely as a team with disability service coordinators across campus.  You will work in a fast-paced work environment, with rapidly emerging and time sensitive issues, operating with high levels of autonomy.

This is a term-limited two year position with the possibility of renewal beyond Fall 2024. This position is part of a pilot that will build a disability support team in LSA.

Responsibilities*

The following job responsibilities reflect the general nature and level of work for this position and should not be interpreted as all-inclusive:

  • Assist with recommendations across all levels of the College regarding practices, processes, and strategies supporting the mission of inclusivity
  • Help to guide individuals through our reasonable accommodations process using ethics, integrity and confidentiality
  • Manage email and other disability related correspondence in a highly responsive manner and generally within two business days of a request being received, assisting with referrals to partner offices and information about their services
  • Partner to identify vendors to provide accommodations such as equipment, technology and facility access
  • Develop resources which support event-related accessibility standards and practices, such as transportation, parking, alternative formats, communication materials, facilities and signage
  • Using knowledge of accessibility best practices, assist with the development of training and educational needs while partnering with our Senior Navigator and DEI Manager to implement course content
  • Based on familiarity with disability inclusion, the ADA, and disability rights, assist with identifying scalable solutions and partner with other disability services staff across the institution to ensure accommodations are at the fore-front
  • Communicate across the organization using email, Google collaboration tools, run meetings and present to others and individual meetings
  • Perform data collection and analysis as well as providing comprehensive reports on service and resource utilization and other reports as requested.
     

Skills You Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Disability Resources, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field
  • 2+ years of related experience assisting individuals with accommodation needs
  • Familiarity with assistive technology, resources, and indication for utilization
  • Familiarity with Google suite (docs, sheets, gmail, slides)
  • Applied experience using project management skills
  • Demonstrated experience with diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
  • Willingness to learn CRM system and web content management systems

Work Locations

The LSA Staff DEI and HR Offices are located at 555 South Forest with additional office space located in the Chemistry Building on Central Campus.  This full-time position will require an on campus presence for meetings, events and other work related responsibilities. 

The onsite schedule will be a minimum of three days per week onsite, and two days per week remote.  The overall schedule may require you to be present on campus up to fives days per week as business needs dictate.

Customer support is throughout the Ann Arbor central campus, as well as other LSA offices and buildings in the southeast Michigan region and may require the need to travel to and work from various campus locations. 

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $54,000 to $60,750.  A higher salary may be possible for well qualified applicants.
