Minimum Experience/Education | The Postdoctoral appointee must have recently (within the last eight years) been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D.) |
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: | Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology from an APA-accredited program, completion of an APA-accredited internship prior to the fellowship start date. Demonstration of completed dissertation by end of spring semester 2023 is required for consideration of applications. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong skills as a clinician, clinical experience with young adults, competency serving a diverse client population, and desire to work within a multidisciplinary team. Preference will be given to candidates with clinical experience working with young adults/college athletes. Experience working college athletes and athletic departments is not required. |

Other Work/Responsibilities | The Counseling and Psychological Services Center (CAPS) at the University of North Carolina Charlotte is seeking applicants for a 12-month, full-time postdoctoral fellowship to begin in early August, 2023. The postdoctoral fellowship is designed for an individual who is seeking licensure and is interested in advanced training in a university counseling center. The primary responsibilities of the Fellow include individual therapy, intake interviews, crisis intervention, and outreach and consultation to student athletes, coaches, and athletic staff. This fellowship is designed to offer advanced training and experience in sport psychology services, including individual therapy, outreach, and consultation with student athletes and coaches at Charlotte. Fellow will gain specialized experience and training in team and individual sports performance, providing consultation and outreach on clinical/wellness topic areas specific to student-athletes consult with UNC Charlotte coaches, staff, sports medicine colleagues, and student-athletes regarding student behavior, mental health, performance enhancement counseling and education. Fellows receive weekly clinical supervision as well as supervision of their specialized work with student athletes and with athletic department staff. |
