Montgomery College’s Dual Enrollment Program is looking to add a full-time Middle College Program Coordinator to our team.  The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and may include some evenings and weekends. The position is based out of the Rockville Campus but may require local travel to other MC campuses and High school sites. Under supervision of the Dual Enrollment Manager, the Middle College Coordinator will, develop, and implement program policies, programs and curriculum that promote the educational development and leads to completion of the Montgomery College (MC) degree and Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) diploma for each Middle College and P-TECH student.   The Middle College Program Coordinator will work closely with MCPS school personnel and Office of Career and Post-Secondary Partnerships, MC faculty and department chairs, counseling staff, and students to exchange information, provide assistance, and resolve issues.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as liaison for MCPS high schools by participating in coordinating and delivering recruitment events at middle schools and other locations, as requested.
  • Collaborate in the development, coordination, and delivery of the Middle College new student seminars and P-TECH Summer Transition program
  •  Develop communication strategies to inform MCPS students about the Middle College and P-TECH program opportunities.
  • Maintain and share student data with leadership as requested. Assist the director with programming and scheduling monthly cohort activities for students to build a learning community. 
  • Coordinate logistics and support the efforts of all middle college programs through case management, academic advising, and collaborative planning and communication with MCPS and MC faculty, staff, and administrators to support the middle college program student to achieve earning the MC degree while fulfilling all MCPS diploma requirements.
  • Evaluate student academic history and create individual education plans and goals that align with both MCPS high school graduation requirements as well as the specific MC middle college degree program.
  • Advise on appropriate courses and assist students with dual enrollment registration and career pathway opportunities.
  • Facilitate orientation and back to school meetings. Hold midterm conferences with students.
  • Maintain active case files and documentation/communication regarding student progress. Ensure confidentiality of records.
  • Provide students with transfer, financial aid, and scholarship information. Assist students with four-year institution applications. Provide support and referral for students experiencing personal issues impacting their academic performance.
  • Advise students regarding opportunities for participation in MC academic achievement groups, college events, clubs, etc.
  • Maintain relationships with community and college constituents to help students satisfy Student Service Learning hours.
  • Participate in end of semester one-on-one and group student meetings. Coordinate visits to four-year colleges and other appropriate career-focused programs.
  • Work with program leadership to develop, coordinate, and deliver other academic initiative programs as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, education or related field.
  • Two years of experience working with high school students.
  • Three years of experience related to academic advising and counseling of students in a college environment, preferably in a community college setting
  • Two years managing student caseloads, records and files
  • Experience in leading or implementing small and large programming.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated leadership and motivational abilities.
  • Proficiency in office and computer applications
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of counseling and advising strategies and curricular content within MCPS and MC as well as requirements for graduation from each institution.

Hiring Range: $61,529 to $79,977 (annually). Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity.   Please include a complete application/resume including all relevant and related work experience.
