Applications are invited for a post-doctoral researcher position at The University of Alabama in Huntsville to work in the field of high-energy multi-messenger astrophysics.

The primary focus of the position will be gamma-ray burst (GRB) science, broadly defined. Applicants with both theoretical and observational or data analysis backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant could conduct research using data from the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM). Fermi GBM has a major role in multi-messenger astronomy, having already detected GRB 170817A.

The position could also involve contributing to the development of some of the future space instruments that UAH is part of. StarBurst is Pioneer-class SmallSat to observe short GRBs. The LEAP mission is funded for a Phase A design study of an instrument on the International Space Station to measure polarization in GRBs. The MoonBEAM mission is similarly funded for a Phase A study to observe GRBs from a cis-lunar orbit with a high-duty cycle.

The position will be housed in UAH's Center for Space Plasma and Aeronomic Research (CSPAR) and located in the University's Cramer Research Hall, which also hosts the Department of Space Science and University and NASA/MSFC, scientists.

The applicant will be collaborating with the UAH, NASA/MSFC, and USRA Fermi GBM teams in Huntsville and scientists at other institutions worldwide.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Astrophysics or a related field. Experience in high-energy astrophysics data analysis,  interpretation, or modeling is desired.
