Job Description:
Piedmont Virginia Community College is seeking an innovative and collaborative individual to join the faculty as a nine-month Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor of EnglishAppointment Date: August 16, 2023. This position will be responsible for teaching all levels of English courses. Courses may include, but are not limited to, developmental English, English Composition I and II, and Literature. The successful candidate will teach a minimum of 15 credits per semester (fall/spring), which may include day, evening and weekend, off-campus, or distance education courses The successful candidate will also carry out other essential job functions of full-time faculty.

Approximate Salary range for nine-month faculty: $46,000-$70,000 depending on education and experience.
 
PVCC desires applicants with a commitment to the community college mission; teaching, learning, and student success; integration of learning outcomes assessment into course development and teaching; use of current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction; and other responsibilities that contribute to the progress of the college. Finalists will be invited to present a teaching demonstration.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.


KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Master of Arts/Fine Arts degree in English or English Literature, or Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in English or English Literature
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Proven commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with online teaching and using technology in the classroom
  • Experience advising and mentoring college students
  • Willingness to take an active role in departmental leadership and curriculum development
