Title: Financial Aid Advisor (Part-time)

Department: Financial Aid

Supervises: N/A

Hours: 25

EX/NE: Non-Exempt

General Description: Facilitate the general operation and coordination of the Financial Aid Office and Services.

This position will work Monday through Friday 9 AM to 2 PM or 10 AM to 3 PM.

Duties:

1. Responsible for financial aid customer service and ensuring adequate customer service coverage.

2. Process incoming and outgoing correspondence (paper and electronic).

3. Scanning of financial aid documents.

4. Pre-processing of student financial aid files.

5. Complete requested information on forms from outside agencies indicating student financial aid eligibility (such as housing forms or outside scholarship applications).

6. Responsible for Veteran Affairs educational benefits.

7. Responsible for default management process and exit loan counseling.

8. Assist interdepartmental student supports.

9. During non-peak times, review student files for accuracy and completion, and initiate proactive correspondence to assist enrollment.

10. Assist with financial aid outreach (on campus, off campus, virtual, 2nd chance Pell, etc.)

11. Duties may include, but not limited to, typing, scanning, proofreading, materials duplication, answering telephones, and informational flyers.

12. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. An Associate Degree in computers, business or other related area or demonstrated competence and equivalent work experience.

2. A working understanding of both federal and state financial aid regulations is preferred.

3. Knowledge of Powerfaids, Jenzabar, ImageNow, and web access software systems is desired.

4. Basic skill in relational data bases, Microsoft Office and the Windows operating system.

5. Demonstrated ability to quickly comprehend and execute new computer programs.

6. Ability to work with minimum supervision.

7. Good organizational and communication skills.

8. A keen sense of accuracy and confidentiality.

9. Must be able to relate well with students, staff, and other agencies.

10. Be punctual, be able to work with constant interruptions and pressure of deadlines and willing to work evenings when required.

11. Provide quality service to the College community; and the ability to work independently.

12. Knowledge and understanding of community college philosophy and the Montcalm Community College vision, mission, and values.

REMUNERATION: Per contract agreement, Support 2, Step 1-4 $15.28 - $16.74 (determined by experience)
