Dean of Nursing and Health Careers

 

Department: Academic Affairs

Employee Group: Administration

Immediate Supervisor: Vice President for Academic Affairs

Supervises: All Nursing & Health Careers Faculty and
Administrative Assistant for Nursing & Health Careers.

General Description: As a member of the academic affairs division and in cooperation with team members, the Dean of Nursing and Health Careers facilitates learning and programming growth by providing academic and organizational leadership and accountability for the nursing and related health occupation programs offered by the College.

 

Position Duties/Functions:

1. Evaluate and manage the program’s resources to ensure that they are sufficient to meet the program’s expected outcomes.

2. Participate in the preparation of program budgets, and administer the budget as needed to meet program outcomes.

3. Participate in the creation and management of the schedules for all credit and non-credit classes.
4. Provide oversight for the nursing program and other health related programs within the college’s mission, core values, policies, and community.
5. Participate in the hiring, orientation, mentoring, evaluating and supervision of full-time and part- time faculty and departmental staff, in accordance with college policy.
6. Manage department faculty and staff personnel issues.
7. Participate in college-wide governance through leadership meetings, professional development, and committees.
8. Promote teaching excellence and scholarship activities for all faculty.
9. Provide leadership in program development, curriculum revision, program evaluation, and policy development.
10. Manage student concerns as needed related to faculty or program.
11. Work with various college departments to maintain faculty and student records to ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
12. Ensure compliance with all State Board of Nursing regulations and accreditation standards.
13. Work with various college departments to submit all reports required by the State Board of Nursing and accreditation agencies.
14. Develop and maintain partnerships in the community that enhance nursing and health occupations programs and achieve excellence in the nursing and health careers professions.
15. Ensure that program outcomes are met at the level consistent with state and national standards using continuous quality improvement.
16. Coordinate clinical placements for students based on learning outcomes.
17. Maintain clinical agency contracts that protect students and delineate clear expectations.
18. Plan and facilitate 1-2 Advisory Committee (AC) meetings each academic year; provide evaluation data to the AC.
19. Coordinate mentorship program for nursing and health careers occupational adjunct faculty.

20. Maintain AEDs and first aid kit equipment/supplies.
21. Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

 

Required Qualifications:

1. Master of Science in Nursing required.
2. Hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan.
3. Minimum of five (5) years of college level teaching experience.
4. Minimum of five (5) years of nursing clinical experience as a registered nurse.
5. Familiarity with instructional assessment and program review.
6. Commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.
7. Familiarity with and commitment to the mission, vision and values of Montcalm Community College.
8. Demonstrated excellence in organizational/management skills including experience with hiring, supervising, and evaluating faculty/staff.
9. Demonstrated ability to work positively and productively with students, college staff, business and industry personnel, and the general public.
10. Demonstrated excellence in written, oral and interpersonal communication.
11. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member as well as independently.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Doctorate preferred.
2. Minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience.
3. Experience managing budgets.

REMUNERATION: $80,000 - $95,000 (determined by experience)

Job Type: Full-time

 

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
