Job Summary

Watson Library as a full-time Student Success Librarian. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and technology-oriented librarian interested in putting their skills to work toward supporting the educational mission of Kilgore College. The Student Success Librarian will play an important role in the formulation and assessment of library-wide services, policies and initiatives geared toward student success and retention. As a member of the library staff, this role includes contributing to a welcoming and inclusive working and learning environment for students, staff, faculty and community.

As a member of the KC library team, the Student Success Librarian includes developing, promoting and assessing online learning resources that support information literacy for all KC students and other patrons.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Reference duties including databases

  • Support and train student and part-time workers

  • Assist with technical services in the library

  • Collect and analyze library statistics and data for reporting and planning

  • Review and advise on database subscriptions

  • Create and update library tutorial videos and other materials for student learning

  • Teach library instruction classes both in person and virtually

  • Identify current and emerging user needs to inform new or existing library program, services and partnerships

Qualifications:

  • Master of Library or Information Science degree from an ALA Accredited institution or equivalent

  • 1 year library experience or 3 years related para-professional experience

  • Technical skills appropriate for a higher education library setting

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Position Requirements:

  • Teaching experience
  • Community College Library experience

Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. As a result, employees/retirees of the college are subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and possibly the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws.
