The Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University is seeking applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Maternal and Child Nutrition (MCN) funded by a training grant from the National Institutes of Health. This is the longest-standing training program in MCN in the United States. It brings together faculty across nutrition and metabolism, community nutrition, and international nutrition – to the disciplinary spectrum of nutrition – including molecular nutrition, human advance the nutrition and health of mothers and children.

The successful applicant will have a doctoral degree, a record of accomplishment in nutrition or related biological, public health, epidemiology, or medical field, and will be committed to a career of research in MCN. Candidates should demonstrate quantitative/qualitative research skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and with collaborators. A track record of original first-author publications in nutrition from doctoral work is desirable. US citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position.


Research will be conducted under the supervision of one or more of the MCN training program faculty (multi-Program Directors: Bellows, Finkelstein, Hoddinott, and Rasmussen; and Trainers: Dickin, Hay, Johnson, Leak, Lujan, Mehta, O’Brien, Odoms-Young, Soloway, Strupp). Emphasis will be placed on leading original research manuscripts; career development; and transition toward independent funding and an independent research career. Opportunities are available for classroom-based training and professional development in teaching, grant writing, scientific communication, and leadership. This position is based in Ithaca, NY. This is a full-time position, renewable on an annual basis, based on performance and continuation of funding.
