The Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, Los Angeles is seeking to hire a Postdoc Scholar Research Associate.

The laboratory is internationally recognized for research contributions in Alzheimer’s disease and stroke and is interested in other neurodegenerative diseases and stem cell technologies. Studies are aimed at understanding the role of amyloid ? peptide (A?) trans-vascular clearance, cerebral ?-amyloidosis, and neuronal dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and particularly investigating AD-associated SNPs in PICALM gene, a significant risk factor for AD, using in vitro BBB models and transgenic mouse models.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the field of molecular and cell biology, transgenic mouse models, in vitro cell culture, and/or some experience in stem cell biology. He/she will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and will closely collaborate with other Research Scientists in the lab and lab members.

Provides general laboratory assistance to support research activities. Conducts research experiments in accordance with laboratory and safety protocols. Performs assignments which are non-routine and vary in complexity with minimal direction. Compiles data and computes results for a variety of research procedures, tests and techniques.

Plans, designs and conducts highly technical and complex research projects independently and in consultation with supervisor. Analyzes research data and provides interpretations. Contributes to the development of research documentation for publication and/or prepares technical reports, papers and/or records.


The annual base salary range for this position is $64,480- $74,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.


Preferred Education: PhD in Neuroscience, biology, or related field within previous five years Preferred Experience: 2 years postdoctoral experience Minimum Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate Minimum Experience: 1 year Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related education and experience in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and analysis methods.
