This is a one-year position, renewable for up to two years (inclusive of Year 1) based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds. Position is available immediately and it remains open until filled.

Essential Functions

  • Work on micro-device assembly techniques to support projects in microfluidics, micro physiological, and electrochemical sensors.
  • Develop 2D and 3D cell culture models for monitoring human cells and tissues in real-time.
  • Ability to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment and drive scientific and technical innovation with other members at the Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging (KIHA).
  • Publish research in peer-reviewed scientific literature.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of micro/nanofabrication, CAD modelling, 3D printing and micromachining.
  • Experience with cell culture, cell imaging, organs-on-chip technologies, and in-vitro modeling.
  • Experience with microfluidic assembly, and polymer bonding techniques.
  • Knowledge of finite element methods for microfluidic simulation.
  • Experience with programming languages and/or LabVIEW software to setup experiments and data collection.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in electrical, mechanical, biomedical engineering or related disciplines.
  • Experience in biological research and/or electrochemical analysis.
  • Experience in biomarker detection (optical and electrochemical methods).
  • Record of successful publication in a related field. Ability to collaboratively write conference and journal publications, and interact with potential research sponsors.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to work in a highly multidisciplinary environment.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.
  • Physical Activities

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
  • Work Schedule

    Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

    Salary Grade Number:

    The salary grade for the position is 8.

    Salary Range:

    The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000.

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
