NC Community Colleges System Office has an opening for a State Board Affairs Executive Assistant, in the State Board Affairs Section of the Executive Division. The recruitment range: $41,429 – $57,000.
 

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
 The primary purpose of this position is work collaboratively with the Director of State Board Relations to coordinate State Board meetings and functions. This includes agenda development, posting public meeting materials, coordinating with staff to collect and publish materials in a timely manner. The position is responsible with managing travel, supply, and budget of the State Board Affairs office and State Board of Community Colleges which includes event and travel logistics. The position is responsible for serving as the clerk for State Board of Community Colleges Committees (Personnel, Legislative, and Accountability and Audit) as well as serving as backup for other clerks and the Director of State Board Relations. The position has regular contact with members of the State Board of Community Colleges, community college Presidents, System Office administrators, and the general public to provide information regarding State Board activities and meeting information. Position is primarily weekdays between 8am-5pm but could include some evenings.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

 

An overall understanding of state and federal government with emphasis on community colleges; a thorough knowledge of office management and records retention and procedures; a strong background in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; the ability to self-compose and edit; the ability to organize, to coordinate , and exercise discretion; to perform responsibilities independently of supervision; and to utilize technology to include creation and maintenance of databases and electronic retention of records, the ability to make sound decisions, the ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; determine the course of action; develop appropriate solutions, the ability to function under pressure and work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner. Project management skills to plan and successfully implement projects and events. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution; or Associate’s degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
