Job Summary

Support faculty with the daily operation of the faculty support center, including but not limited to classroom opening and/or closing, telephone and email coverage, set-up of classroom technology, distributing supplies, posting cancellation notices, and providing other services as needed.
Provide accurate and consistent information regarding classes, upcoming events, college resources, meetings, questions, concerns, etc. to faculty, students, staff, and other community members.
Be aware of applicable college policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Support security of classrooms and equipment.
Handle inquiries over the phone/email for faculty and staff at the College.
Be aware of institutional policies and procedures, including approved safety and security procedures.
Post signs as needed to direct constituents to campus classrooms and events.
Assist with basic computer troubleshooting.
Make appropriate referrals as needed.
Provide site support to faculty members.
Know when to direct faculty to their departments: for example, to request keys and copy codes.
Train and assist faculty in the use of copy machines, in-class electronic equipment, and/or other available site services.
Assist instructors by distributing mail and classroom supplies and keeping the Faculty Support Center organized.
Work with faculty to gain access to classrooms.
Provide backup assistance for Event Support staff.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED
One (1) year paid-related work experience.
Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual or Multilingual
Experience working with a diverse population
Work experience in higher education or related field or one (1) year of post-high school education.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively with diverse students, staff, administrators, faculty, and community entities and maintain good working relationships across the College.
Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
General clerical skills.
Organizational skills.
Reliable and flexible schedule for covering necessary shifts
Ability to work well with minimal supervision
Ability to multi-task while under strict deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, abilities, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups in diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities

Special Instructions

Afternoon/Evening Shift: Monday- Thursday 2:00PM-8:30PM/Friday 12:00PM-4:00PM.

Based at South City Campus, but will involve occasional travel to other Salt Lake Community College campuses.
