The Director, Partner Relations is instrumental to the success of the American Diabetes Association’s impact and growth strategy. In this highly visible and strategic role, you will act as ADA’s point person for ensuring a healthy and productive relationship with funders.

The ADA is focused on identifying, managing, and growing strategic partnerships to drive the mission. Demonstrating an innovative and results-oriented approach, you will ensure healthy and productive relationships with our major strategic partners across a portfolio of relationships.

The Director will be responsible for managing the strategic relationships to drive partner, program, and revenue success. In addition to establishing significant and productive relationships within the partner organization, you lead cross-functional activities to support and inform the development and execution of differentiated approaches and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead a portfolio of major projects, with responsibility for optimizing outcomes and partner satisfaction. This will involve coordinating, advising and actively linking role-based counterparts across the organization to ensure that major projects are properly designed, that strategies align with our goals and our partners’, and that the quality of collaborative programs reflects ADA’s commitment to being a preferred partner and a global leader in the diabetes community. To do this, you will:

  • Orchestrate launch meetings for new partnered programs, bringing together partners from across the organization and clarifying the role of each in supporting the success of the project
  • Co-lead (with the PMO) project design meetings prior to the launch of new projects
  • Lead major monthly and quarterly project meetings, and provide other regular, value-added, high-touch, high-strategy engagement with partners and other key third party stakeholders
  • Develop, communicate, and manage a project plan that reflects partner objectives, meets organizational economic goals, reflects solution-oriented strategies, and meets or exceeds operational expectations.
  • Anticipate partner and project needs and respond rapidly with appropriate options and resources from both inside and outside ADA
  • Drive an agile process through each key phase of partnered programs, defining and refining goals, incorporating key learnings as modifications may be needed, and pulling in appropriate organizational resources to support the project’s and the organization’s mission.
  • Build awareness of the value and skills that subject matter experts within ADA bring to each partnership challenge and opportunities
  • Build and deepen relationships with Strategic Partner executives and other points of contact to identify opportunities for improvement and build alignment throughout the partnership
  • Oversee the design of evaluative tools specific to the partnership that will ensure regular qualitative and quantitative inputs on key facets of the program
  • Serve as the principal liaison to an Executive Team governance committee assigned for oversight of each strategic partnership within the portfolio
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the ADA's reputation and positioning as a preferred partner.
  • Apply sound judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting issues with transparency.
  • Some travel, as needed to support project and organizational goals

Qualifications

You are a leader with demonstrated success in developing and growing long-term, high-value partner relationships that benefit both parties. You have a knowledge of the issues that are priorities of the organization, a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, and a demonstrated ability to rally colleagues to drive results. You are a thoughtful and adept communicator, especially with influencing and problem resolution with partners and clients.

In addition, your professional skillset includes:

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical, outcomes, and financial skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High Emotional IQ and ability to manage and drive success with multiple stakeholders of different titles, levels, and competing priorities
  • Proven organizational and relational strengths with strong attention to detail
  • The ability to identify critical headlines, goals, challenges and opportunities in a relationship and a project
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, problem solver and a goal-oriented team leader/player
  • Executive presence to work comfortably and credibly in the highest levels of our organization as well as with direct connection to partner organizations globally.
  • Positive, transparent, and engaging personality with a natural skill for developing professional relationships.
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Prior experience building relationships and navigating within a large, complex, matrixed organization.
  • Solid business acumen and experience establishing and building partner relationships.

Compensation range: $78k - $90k DOE
