Assistant Professor: Pediatric Neuropsychology

Position Description:

The Division of Neuropsychology in the Department of Neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin anticipates hiring one full-time clinical neuropsychology faculty to work in the section of Pediatric Neuropsychology.

Clinical responsibilities include provision of neuropsychological services to children with a variety of medical, neurological and developmental disorders in inpatient and outpatient settings. Clinical activities are conducted in the Children’s Wisconsin (CW) hospital and clinics and within the CW Neuroscience Program. The ability to work and think quickly and flexibly and to conduct both comprehensive and brief consultative evaluations is essential. Our section partners work collaboratively with many other pediatric disciplines including neurology, neurosurgery, neonatology, rehabilitation, genetics, neuro-radiology, oncology, cardiology, pediatrics, psychology and psychiatry. We have major programmatic commitments to the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program, the NICU follow-up program, the Herma Heart Center, the Brain Tumor program, the Comprehensive Sports Concussion clinic, and the Nelson Rare and Undiagnosed Disease program. Teaching responsibilities include lectures and supervision of four pediatric postdoctoral fellows in clinical neuropsychology (didactics also include adult neuropsychology fellows) and practicum students from five regional graduate programs. Successful candidates will have strong interests in clinical research. Many opportunities are available within the Department for joining existing teams of researchers or developing an area of personal interest. The Department supports a major fMRI research laboratory devoted to understanding normal and abnormal language functions, a MEG research center, collaborative IOM program for brain tumors, and several clinical research databases.

CW is a Level 4 Epilepsy Center and was the 3rd pediatric hospital to receive the designation of Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence. CW also ranks among the best in the nation by US News and World Report in specialties that include Neurology and Neurosurgery, Cancer and Cardiology. CHW has also been listed among the 20 most innovative Children’s Hospitals by Parent Magazine in 2018. C has one of the few Level 1 trauma centers in the country that is devoted to pediatric patients.

Position Requirements:
Minimum requirements include a doctoral degree in psychology with child neuropsychological emphasis, and completion of a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology. Qualified applicants should be license-eligible in the State of Wisconsin and board certified or eligible for ABPP/ABCN certification. Applicants at any level will be considered, and participation in clinical, research and teaching are expected. Our neuropsychologists are generalists with expectation of individual areas of expertise that can produce clinical research. Desirable candidates possess both unique talents and skills that mesh with existing operations. The Division seeks a strong team player with clinical experience working with infants and preschoolers with pre-, peri- and early life neurological and genetic disorder.
