Job Summary

Provides information, assistance, and follow-up to employees and departments regarding benefits, leaves, and other HR processes. Assist Benefit Coordinators in tracking of data and data input. Assist with maintaining Personnel Files including scanning and filing of documents.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Assist employees with general benefits questions. Provide information regarding benefits forms and processes. Explain policies and benefits and provide information within the scope of knowledge. Assist with Benefits open enrollment. Assist with benefits fair, including room setup, advertising, vendor notification, etc. Assist in coordination of benefits trainings, including room setup, advertising, and registration. Coordinate required mailings, including preparation of materials, preparing labels, stuffing envelopes, etc. Respond to and initiate calls with employees regarding family medical leave, accommodations, and ADA matters. Correspond with supervisors and medical providers, and interface with employees for clarification and verification of information. Responsible for maintaining files associated with family medical leave and ADA data.

Assist with maintaining Personnel Files including scanning and filing of documents. Assist with other projects as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of post high school education and One (1) year direct experience in an HR/Business setting
Experience may be substituted for education

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in related field

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:
  • Insurance, retirement plans and other standard benefit programs
  • Spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and report writing software
  • Human Resource practices
  • State, Federal and Human Resource guidelines required, College guidelines preferred
  • College administrative software including imaging software, benefit enrollment portals
  • Business English, writing and vocabulary, and business math
Ability to:
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs
  • Collect and analyze data and information
  • Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive and highly confidential information and keep data secure
  • Create and maintain a good working relationship with vendors, College departments, and internal staff
  • Create understanding when working with individuals and groups as it pertains to benefits
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.

Special Instructions

Part Time hours not to exceed 125 hours per month or 20 hours per week. Office hours are 8:00 – 4:30 with a flexible schedule. May be required to rotate between working in the office and remotely. Please indicate on your resume if experience was part-time (less than 30 hours/week) or full time. This position may require a criminal background check.
