Pittsburgh Technical College is a private, non-profit, regionally accredited institution committed to a higher standard of educational excellence focused on academic and professional success. Located on a beautiful 180-acre campus in in Western Pennsylvania, PTC was founded in 1946. PTC awards associate and bachelor’s degrees and certificates within 10 Schools and 30 Programs. PTC offers a college experience that is empowering and culminates in internships and clinical rotations for on-campus, degree-seeking students.
 
PURPOSE OF JOB
Responsible for the administration and reconciliation of all State Grants awards for Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia along with special programs including, but not limited to PA Tips; EAP, RTSS, Chafee and Homeless Youth. Would be the point of contact for 3rd party financial aid resources such as Pittsburgh Promise, OVR and Job Training. Receive external scholarship funds and apply to students financial aid package as directed by the scholarship fund.
 
PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Work collaboratively with all units within Financial Aid, the Bursar's Office, and Enrollment team and be the subject matter expert in student advising with regards to State Aid, Special Programs, and other outside education funds.
  • Administers the delivery of state aid funds to students and advise accordingly to their individual eligibility.
  • Oversees the State Aid portfolio and be the primary point of contact in State Aid administration and student counseling
  • Awards state grant programs as available and communicates eligibility requirements to student recipients.
  • Understands, interprets, and disseminates guidelines and regulations set by each state agency.
  • Stays current with Change of Status Reports weekly to make sure student is continually awarded properly by updating financial plan and reporting changes to the appropriate Financial Aid Counselors and student recipients on a regular basis.
  • Inputs data as required for PA Chaffee Grant Program and all other Special Programs along with outside education funds and communicates eligibility and requirements to recipients and Financial Aid Counselors.
  • Applicant would be the main contact for State Grant Audits
  • May be asked to step in and help families complete FAFSA and all other financial aid documents they may need and go over Financial Aid Awards if Counselors are unavailable.
  • Participate in regular trainings to stay abreast of new information and program changes to be implemented.
  • Contribute to PTC's overall success by performing additional duties as needed.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Associates degree in business administration, accounting, or related field
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, liberal arts, or related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS
  • Minimum of 2 years financial aid school experience, other related work experience with finances, or a combination of relevant work and educational experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, such as Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills to solve problems, analyze trends and provide recommendations.
  • Must work in a detail-oriented manner
WORK SCHEDULE
 
Full-time – Monday through Friday – Occasional Saturday.
 
Weekday schedule adjustment made to accommodate Saturday work schedule. (If you work on Saturday, you are off on Monday)
 
Monday          9:00AM – 4:30PM
Tuesday        10:00AM – 6:30PM
Wednesday    8:30AM – 4:30PM
Thursday        8:30AM – 4:30PM
Friday             9:00AM – 3:30PM   
 
Financial Aid is required to participate in important College events that include, but not limited to Orientations, Open Houses, Graduations, and Financial Aid Events.
 
Responsibilities of position will require additional work hours seasonally.
 
Peak period schedule (March and April) is adjusted to work two 10:00AM – 6:30PM days per week.
