Position Summary
Under administrative direction, this position provides quality customer services to students, parents and internal stake holders regarding the Financial Aid process via phone, email and in person for the online student population. This position also serves as a liaison between departments to provide accurate information regarding next steps in the student enrollment process. 50 percent of the duties (or as needed) below are dedicated to assisting online students. The other 50 percent of the duties (or as needed) below are dedicated to assisting fellow Advisors with on campus students.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (years of experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree)
  • Three years experience working in a Financial Aid Office.

 


Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years experience working in a Financial Aid Office.
  • Two to three years’ experience working in a customer service front facing environment.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner financial aid module.

Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three years experience working in a Financial Aid Office.

  • Have appropriate knowledge of practices, and procedures in federal student aid, including state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Student Information Systems.
  • Must not be in default on federal student loans and have ability to access Federal Student Aid databases (NSLDS, COD, FAAaccess).

Physical Demands
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional lifting to ten pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a climate controlled, office environment.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

 

Essential Duties/Responsiblities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for students, parents and the Morehouse community inquiring about the Financial Aid process.
  • Provide information and resources to students, parents and the Morehouse community about how to apply for all types of aid and provide updates on the status of their applications via email, phone, in-person and virtually.
  • Counsel students on Financial Aid awards and assist in providing available options for payment.
  • Instructs students on correct procedures for completing forms and applications, special requirements and restrictions, and supporting documentation.
  • Review all SAP appeals, Professional Judgements, Default Clearance Letters and other requested documentation for accuracy before accepting for review and processing.
  • Serve as a liaison between departments to assist students and parents with matriculating through the enrollment process. These functions are including, but not limited to: Admissions, Advising, Registration, Student Accounts.
  • Assists with community outreach efforts, including calling campaigns, workshops and orientation presentations to students, parents and the Morehouse community.
  • Responsible for managing assigned alpha-split for walk-in and virtual QLess appointments.
  • Ensuring that all appointments are serviced during the scheduled times for online students.
  • Responsible for reviewing and completing all Zen Desk tickets within assigned alpha split for online students.
  • Responsible for following up on all email inquiries as appropriate for the online student population.
  • Serve as a back-up for fellow Financial Aid Advisors who are assigned the on-campus student population.
  • Coordinate with Senior Financial Aid Advisor on resolving all complex issues.
  • Remain up to date with all federal and state regulations.
  • All duties as assigned by Direct Supervisor and Executive Director of Financial Aid.
