Olympic College is recruiting a full-time tenure track Technical Design faculty to join the team at the college’s Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) campus, in downtown Bremerton. Courses will include Technical Drawing, Solid Edge, AutoCAD, and Project Management, and possibly additional courses. Essential Functions

 

  • Collaborate with PSNS & IMF trade faculty to provide Apprentices and Helpers with relevant, up-to-date training and skills.
  • Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching students with little or no subject background, as well as the experienced student desiring to further their careers.
  • Effectively teach and manage classes with students from a broad spectrum of abilities and experience.
  • Support diversity in higher education through the application of multiple teaching pedagogies and the use of diverse resources/voices, as well as by contributing through actions.
  • Foster a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation.
  • Create engaging teaching and learning environments that facilitate student success.
  • Provide student education and career advising, mentoring, and support.
  • Actively contribute to faculty team meetings and activities to collaboratively complete a variety of program work.
  • Participate in continually updating the curriculum.
  • Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities.
  • Utilize a variety of assessment activities to evaluate student learning and achievement.
  • Maintain regular office hours for students and colleagues.
  • Serve on appropriate college and community committees, including working with the program advisory committee.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Terms of Employment

This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. The salary listed is a range based on per month for the quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.
