Full Job Description
The Accounting Associate will be expected to work Monday through Friday in a pleasant rural office setting in an historic building in Eighty Four, PA.
The Accounting Associate shall perform various bookkeeping functions of the Foundation and shall record transactions within established procedures. The Accounting Associate position has a day-to-day focus on accounts receivable functions but will perform accounts payable functions as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
Accounting and General Ledger
· Ensures all accounting functions and reports are completed on a timely basis
· Assists in the reconciliation of general ledger accounts
· Is responsible for the reconciliations of all depository accounts
· Is responsible for the preparation of monthly comparisons to the budget
· Is responsible for ensuring key reports needed for the audit are updated on a monthly basis
· Is responsible for conducting a monthly review of all the Foundation’s funds
· Is responsible for uploading bank statements and account reconciliations to Business Central
· Assists in the preparation of the annual operating budget
· Assists in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements
· Prepares adjusting journal entries as needed
· Prepares other schedules and reports as required
Accounts Receivable / Petty Cash / Accounts Payable
· Is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of accounts receivable which includes but is not limited to: accurately recording receipts (checks/electronic payments/securities); processing the daily deposit; and preparing the batch deposits in Business Central
· Is responsible for monitoring activity on the Foundation’s online giving accounts
· Reconciles petty cash quarterly
· Assists in the processing of accounts payable by: verifying and posting purchase invoices in Business Central; verifying and posting payment entries in Business Central; and verifying bill pay and ACH payment entries the Washington Financial website
Auditing, Reporting and Compliance
· Assists with the annual audit, Form 990 filing and Pennsylvania Bureau of Charitable Organizations filings
· Assists in maintaining compliance with the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations
Donor Service
He/she shall assist in the preparation and delivery of donor fund statements to donors and work with the Data Manager to ensure the accuracy of the Fund Web donor portal.
Other
He/she will be required to perform other duties as assigned. He/she occasionally may be required to work evenings, weekends or hours outside of normal office hours as directed and/or as required to fulfill the essential functions of the position. He/she may, from time to time, be required to travel within Washington County and the region, to perform the essential functions of the position.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant experience required. Prior experience with integrated accounting software preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
