Position Summary
Work with the GS program director, faculty, and staff to administer the GS undergraduate and faculty research programs. Teach GS courses. This position will supervise three staff members – the Administrative Coordinator, the Program Coordinator, and the Federal Work Study Undergraduate Student-- and work closely with the other faculty, staff, and post-doctoral fellow(s), to ensure the smooth functioning of the GS program.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Interdisciplinary Research Program

  • Identify grants and other funding sources for interdisciplinary research and assist faculty with applying for them.
  • Administer the Global Futures research grant program.
  • Develop and support research initiatives for the program, including scheduling meetings, gathering materials, developing the intellectual agenda, and publicizing program-sponsored events.
  • Coordinate collaboration with Office of Undergraduate Research.

GS Program Administration

  • Serve as major advisor for GS majors.
  • Supervise and train the Program Coordinator, Administrative Coordinator, and student work-study.
  • Coordinate assessment of undergraduate program and write reports.
  • Submit reports and undertake special projects as required by the director.
  • Promote and implement programs to increase diversity in the major.
  • Serve on the GS Diversity Committee.
  • Ensure timely dissemination of departmental decisions by 1) recording, clearing, and circulating decisions to relevant faculty and students; 2) maintaining records of decisions and updating GS guidance as necessary to reflect changes.
  • Assist with curriculum development and implementation.
  • Provide information to and support faculty in their pedagogical roles.
  • Work closely with graduate and postdoctoral fellows in developing their teaching contributions and integrating them into the life of the program.
  • Serve as the senior staff for social events for GS majors, including the graduation party and other events for undergraduates during the year.
  • Serve on the GS Advisory Committee.

Teaching

  • Participate in the intellectual life of the GS program.
  • Teach up to the equivalent of two classes per term in the field of expertise.
  • One course per semester shall be a GS required course.

Other duties and special projects in support of the program coordinator as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the discipline.
  • Teaching and advising experience.


Required Qualifications

  • PhD in a related academic field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

G11


Salary Range
$50,500.00 - $86,200.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
