Associate Research Scientist

Job Description


The Laboratory for Nanobiotechnology and Synthetic Biology in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University invites applications to fill immediately a full time position as Associate Research Scientist to lead initiatives of the laboratory in the areas of nanobiotechnology and molecular biomechanics. The successful candidate will develop models of biomolecular systems using analytical and computational methods and design in vitro experiments to validate these models. The candidate will also be responsible for the training of graduate and undergraduate students in the full range of techniques employed in the laboratory and will be expected to apply for external funding opportunities.

Applicants should hold at a doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field including Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Engineering. Individuals with postdoctoral experience, extensive expertise with in vitro experiments involving biomolecular motors, and a working knowledge in analytical and computational modeling are strongly encouraged to apply.
